Police Record Check
All coaches and volunteers with Ottawa West Little League are required to undergo a Police Records Check through the Ottawa Police Service. 

Step 1: Prepare your volunteer letter

Download this volunteer letter. IMPORTANT: update the values for the following fields:

  • Date - click the field and use the drop-down arrow to select today's date
  • Volunteer Name - click the field and type in your full name
  • Position & Responsibilities - click the field and select from the drop-down menu.  If there is no option that matches your role, please reach out to our director of communications.

Save as PDF format as that is the format expected when uploading to the OPS website.  

Step 2: Visit the Ottawa Police Service website

Click APPLY NOW under Start your online records check now! Follow the instructions. You will need to apply for the "Level 3 - Vulnerable Sector Check". By providing the updated volunteer letter, OPS, will waive the processing fee. 

Processing can take anywhere from an hour to a couple of weeks. 

If your application cannot be completed online, you may have to apply in person.  Express Police Records Checks are available at 2670 Queensview Drive which is open from 7:30AM - 5:30PM, Monday-Friday. 

Step 3: Once your PRC has been processed, please forward to OWLL's VP Coach and player development

Abuse Awareness Course

Little League International requires that all coaches, assistant coaches, managers, and members of OWLL's board complete the abuse awareness training course. Details on this course, and how it can be completed can be found at https://www.littleleague.org/university/articles/abuse-awareness-training-course/. Once you have completed the course, you can upload the certificate on your coaching application, or email to [email protected]
