Volunteer coaches are a critical component of any successful league. Coaching Little League is about more than developing players and baseball talent. Little League International states:

“Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.”

Ottawa West Little League is looking for people with the following skills to provide great coaching: 

  • Knowledge of baseball through experience
  • Knowledge of coaching through experience
  • Leadership
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Teaching abilities
  • Understanding of children
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to act as an ambassador for the league
  • Time
