Prospects development (Ottawa West Little League)

PrintProspects development

What is it?
Those with the potential to play at our highest levels, from minor and up, are invited to the Ottawa West Prospect Development program.  The program has 2 sessions - a winter program that involves skill training from December-April and a spring program from May-June that involves extra practices and games to supplement the spring house league season.

How are players chosen?

  • Input is taken from spring and summer sort outs as well as from spring/summer coaches for winter prospects offers.  These offers are given in the late fall in time for winter registration in November.
  • Input from winter ball (open) and prospects as well as sort out evaluations for invitations to spring prospects session (April-early May)
  • All invitations will come from the district head coaches (per level) who have been selected the previous fall

*Note: Fall training is a newer program for all of Ottawa West Little League.  This is a short 4 week training program outdoors where players get used to the level of play they will be in for the following spring (for example:  A 2nd year minor in spring will play major in the fall to adjust to the differences in rules and game play).  This is especially important development time for any player moving up in levels or looking to be considered for prospects programs.
